What is important to know when buying a necktie?

It may sound sound obvious, but the most important thing is that you like how a tie looks

Buy the tie that appeals to you, the tie that catches your eye. Which is how we all choose ties, anyway.

However, your tie souled not strike your fancy, but should also be appropriate for the occasion at which you will be wearing it. You may take a shine to that hula-girls and palm-trees number at the store, but unless you work in a Hawaiian souvenir shop, don't buy it!

Your tie should also coordinate well with your shirts, suits and jackets. Therefore, when you shop for a tie, do not evaluate it by the way it displayed, with other ties on the rack. Consider how the tie's colors, design, fabric and width, would complement a specific shirt or suit.

Try to wear the clothes you have in mind to pair it with. But, memory can deceive. The most striking tie may not match any thing in your closet. If you are not wearing a formal shirt or a jacket when you are buying a tie, compare that tie to those in the store that work well together.

How to motivate your subordinates

Most of us, at some time or other, have had to motivate not only our subordinates but our colleges as well; not only at work but may be at social service programmes and religious functions and even during political campaigns.

Sometimes it is so hard to motivate even ourselves to accomplish something, so motivating others to work together to achieve a predetermined goal is a tremendous challenge. We are putting forward some thought we think might be of some help to you in motivating people under you.

· Motivation through fear is very short lived. Being bullied or threatened builds up resentment and takes a toll on work-quality and worker-commitment. Work will be done grudgingly and loyalty will take a back seat. In the long run productivity will decrease rapidly and worker relationships deteriorate, leading to loss of revenue for the establishment.
· Although money is very important, it is not everything. Even a very hefty bonus might work negatively if you are unable to give the same amount the following year, negating your motivating efforts.

Learn How to Say No

We live in a world that has been shrunk to global village by fast travel, telecommunication such as fax, email, mobile phone and above all, World Wide Web. Consequently, the choices and opportunities that are on offer are enormous. Being human, we are very much in the danger of wanting it all.

Unfortunately, being human, we cannot have it all! The opportunities are getting more and more by the day. If you do not know how to say no to the choices and opportunities that crave for your attention, you will be spending your life wondering if you have made the correct decision, isn’t the grass greener on the other side! You have to learn to make the correct decision after evaluating all these choices and opportunities so that you will be confident and happy in the decision you take and be free in your mind without any regrets or second thoughts.

I just don’t have the TIME!

“I just don’t have enough tome” how many times have you heard that today? Up to now? How many times have you said it? In fact, I’d bet that you said these exact words more than a dozen times in the last 48 hours.

“I don’t have enough time to...
…finish my work,
…get in shape,
…start a hobby,
…spend with my family.”

Everybody has only 24 hours a day, whether they are kings or paupers!! While we all have the same amount of the time in the day, why is it that some people seem to accomplish a ton more than you? From the president to the postman, people all have the same time frame but accomplish loads more than in a single day that you seem to accomplish in a week.
Why is this? Why do some struggle and drown in their obligations, while others make the impossible seem effortless? Why are some people poor at time management time-poor while others are time-rich? Which are you?

Setting Sales Goals

Goals are one of fundamental things in life. They define what are you are doing and why you are doing it. They serve as a constant reminder of what the end destination in any journey. They act as a road map to show us how reach where we want to go.

So, why do we need goals? The answer is simple; to keep us on task. Goals give us a purpose and a focus that cannot be replaced by anything.

Goals are expectation and it means looking forward. Does it not make more sense to commit to writing what you are seeking? Take a moment to think about the everyday common writing grocery list. What happens to your expectation when you leave that written list at home or at the office? If you are like more people, you potentially waste a lot of time thinking about what was on the list. Upon your return, you realize that you have failed to secure everything you had previously thought of having in the future.
Using goals to help your situation as a sales person is vital to your success. All of the sales people I talk to who consider themselves successful rely on goals to help get them there. I hear time and time again that people that set goals for themselves reach a higher level. They find a way to stretch themselves and make it happen.
